Most trekking companies will sell you the Inca Trail or Huayna Potosí and call it an adventure. I get it. Those are iconic places. But if you've already been there, or if you're the kind of person who looks at a map and wonders what's in the blank spaces between the named peaks, then you already know that's not what you're after.
I'm Thomas Wilken. I take small groups into the parts of the Andes that most operators simply don't know exist: unnamed 5,000-meter summits in the Cordillera Real, remote valleys in the Ausangate region, ridgelines in the Sierra Nevada de Cocuy where you won't see another soul for days. I explore new routes every year, not to tick boxes, but because the mountains keep offering more than any brochure can hold.
What I do is simple, even if the terrain isn't. You tell me what you're chasing: a serious 6,000-meter peak, a multi-week traverse through hidden valleys, a first ascent on a mountain with no name on the map. I plan it around your fitness, your timeline, and your appetite for the unknown. No call centre, no template itinerary, just a direct conversation with someone who has stood on those slopes and knows what you'll find there.
We start with as few as two people. And if something changes once you're out there, whether it's weather, a different summit calling your name, or a valley worth an extra day, we adapt. That flexibility isn't a selling point. It's just how a real expedition should work.
If the Andes are on your mind and you want to get beyond the obvious, reach out. I'd love to hear what you're planning. 🏔️
